Future Looks Bright for 2022-23 Lancers
The Lancers are looking to impress in the 22/23 season with high expectations in the TVL Small Division and an eye on qualifying for the MIAA Tournament. Junior Captain Josh Cohen looks stronger and faster coming into the season and will lead a strong forward group. From day one, Senior Captain Palash Raina has been the vocal but level headed leader that ensures the team has the right attitude on an off the ice. With a talented forward core including Mikey MacDonald, Daniel Lennon, Avi Katz and Cam Goldman, the depth should put the Lancers in great position to compete in every game.
The defense is lead by Junior Captain Connor Heagney. His dynamic play and high hockey IQ make him a great example of a well-rounded player on the blue line. Connor should give all his teammates confidence along with Senior Liam Coffey and Juniors Josh Giguere and Cody Gass. This group forms a really strong defensive unit with Curt Laverdiere and Drew Yaffe adding depth to the D core as well.
Senior goalie Sam Grolnic will lead between the pipes. Two freshman goalies, Jake Brown and Ari Parker are working hard to be ready if called upon. Other freshmen Brogan Laverdiere, Jacob Mento and Brady Sinclair are not to be overloked as they fight for their time to shine.

2021-22 Norton/Sharon Co-op looks to build on strong finish to 2020-21 season
With a final record of 5-4-1, the 2020-21 Lancers completed the regular season with a winning record for the second time in program history and for the first time ever in the highly competitive Tri Valley League. They did so by winning their last 5 games in a shortened season due to Covid-19. The 2021-2022 team will be looking to break through the ice for an automatic bid into the prestigious Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Assocaition's State Hockey Tournament. The Tri-Valley League offers a big challenge for the Lancers but with an eager core of returning players and second year coach Mike Donovan leading the way, qualifying for the playoffs will be the ultimate goal.
The 2020-2021 Lancers were led by Senior Captains, Joey Fasolino and Mike Whalen. Whalen led the team with 15 points and Max Sherman followed close behind registering 13 total points. All 3 goaltenders (Senior Collin Lyons, Sophomore Sam Grolnic and Freshman Adam D’Errico) averaged an 89.1% save percentage for the season. Freshmen Connor Heagney (Defenseman) and Josh Cohen (Forward) were major contributors as well with 11 points each. Seniors Stephen D’Ercole, Joey Fasolino & Collin Lyons finished up their high school seasons playing heavy minutes and will certainly be missed.
The 2021-2022 Lancers are looking to continue their winning ways led by Senior Captains, Jake Braga, Connor Cohen and Mike Whalen. Senior Max Sherman will be called upon every game to lead a returning core of experienced upperclassmen in Avi Katz and Palash Raina. Returning underclassmen Josh Cohen, Connor Heagney, Curt Laverdiere, Daniel Lennon, Mateo Martinez, Anthony Santangelo and Brady Turner will be looked upon for increased scoring and lockdown defense. The Lancers welcome newcomers Liam Coffey, Cam Goldman, Josh Giguere, Maxwell Sheng and Drew Yaffe to support the team’s winning efforts.
Goaltending efforts will remain strong with Sophomore Adam D’Errico & Junior Sam Grolnic in net to shut down the opposition.
Looking forward to a full schedule for this season with our Lancer fans in the stands!

New Head Coach Mike Donovan Excited to Lead 2020-21 Squad
I'm really excited about the opportunity that NHS Athletic Director Aaron Sumner has given me to coach the 2020-21 Norton/Sharon high school hockey team. We have 21 players on our roster which is led by 3 seniors: Captain Joey Fasolino, Collin Lyons and Stephen D'Ercole. The assistant coaches are Rob Reilly and Triton DosReis (NHS Class of 2018). We started our 2020-21 season on December 15th and will play a 10 game schedule with the possibility of playing 12 games. We have dedicated our season to our Seniors. 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone and we know this isn't the way the seniors pictured how their high school career would end. Our underclassmen are a great supporting cast and I expect the Lancers to open some eyes this season in the TVL. I have been impressed with the intensity, enthusiasm, high energy and the pace of our practices. It's fun to come to practice and see our development every day. Here are 3 quotes that will help our team as we start to play our games:
"The pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow. For every challenge encountered there is opportunity for growth.
Because some people see a wall, and assume that’s the end of their journey. Others see it, and decide it’s just the beginning."
Angeline Trevena
"Winners are not people who never fail, but people who never quit."

Go Lancers and I look forward to a great season!

Norton Lancers Aim to Ascend in Tri-Valley Small League with Sharon Co-op
The 2018-19 Lancers fell short of their goal of 20 points while competing in the very tough Tri-Valley League. The 2019-2020 team will be looking to break through for an automatic bid into the prestigious MIAA State Hockey Tournament. The Tri-Valley Small League offers a very competitive schedule for the Lancers and with an eager core of returning players and second year coach leading the way, playoffs will be the ultimate achievement.
The 2018-2019 Lancers were led by senior captains Joey Juliano & Brenden Heayden, along with team MVP goalie Mitchell Director. Juliano lead the team with 21 points and Heayden registered 15 total points in an injury plagued season. Heayden also became the all-time career points leader for NHS surpassing Jake Palin (Class of 2017). Sharon native Mitchell Director led the team in net with an 87.5% save percentage & 3.29 goals against average to keep the Lancers in every game with his stellar play. Juniors Jeremy Cross & Patrick Donahue were major contributors as well with 11 & 6 points respectively. Seniors Jon Giguere, Tommy Whalen, Jared Parker & Matt Pepin finished up their high school seasons playing heavy minutes and will certainly be missed.
The 2019-2020 Lancers will have plenty to improve on and will be led by Captains Donahue & Cross. Seniors John Brennan, Billy McCarthy, Matthew Zhou & Tim Saunders will bring plenty of experience as well and will be leaned upon nightly. Returning underclassmen Joey Fasolino (4 points) & Mikey Whalen (5 points) will be looked upon for increased scoring as will other returnees Jake Braga, Connor Cohen, Max Sherman, Stephen D’Ercole and newcomer Palash Raina. Taking over goaltending duties will be Junior Collin Lyons while two freshmen Sam Grolnic & Cainen Schulz will look to get opportunities as well.
Coach Thebado looks to lead this team in his second year as head coach through the Tri-Valley schedule as well as some new schools added to the non-league schedule this season. GO LANCERS! "Don’t Mind the Grind!"

Norton Lancers Looking to Continue Competitive Play
in Realigned Tri-Valley Small League
For the past three years the Norton varsity ice hockey team has been competing in the highly respected D2/D3 Tri Valley League (TVL). Missing out on the state tournament by only a few games in each of the past 2 seasons, the 2018-2019 team will be looking to break through the ice for an MIAA invite. The new Tri-Valley Small League will offer a more competitive schedule for the Lancers and with a strong core of returning players and a new coach leading the way, a winning season is certainly achievable.
The 2017-2018 Lancers were led by senior goalie Triton DosReis, the TVL goaltender of the year, senior Clint Gallagher (8 goals, 13 assists), and a pair of high scoring juniors in defensemen Joey Juliano (9 goals, 16 assists) and forward Brendan Heayden (8 goals, 14 assists). Senior captain DosReis was named to the first team Taunton Gazette and Sun Chronicle All Star teams for outstanding play between the pipes in helping the Lancers compete in every game. Gallagher was named to the Taunton Gazette second team and Sun Chronicle honorable mention for the second time. The 2017-2018 Lancers graduated the largest and most successful class to date. Major contributions from Tony Cerce, Justin Goldstein (Sun Chronicle honorable mention), Evan Czazasty and Conor Gilbert (Horizon Lancer Award Recipient) for the past 4-5 years will be greatly missed.
The 2018-2019 Lancers will be led by two senior Captains: Juliano, a Sun Chronicle All Star and Heayden a Sun Chronicle honorable mention in 2017-18. Both players were also TVL and Taunton Gazette second team All Stars last season. Joining them and looking for increased scoring will be returning forwards Patrick Lorden (21 career points), Jeremy Cross (12 career points) & Tommy Whalen (11 career points). Returning on defense will be steady D-man Junior Billy McCarthy & Sharon Senior Jared Parker. Taking over goaltending duties will be Sharon native Mitchell Director who saw plenty of JV action last year & played in 4 games for the Varsity team posting a respectful .835 Save Percentage.
Other notable returnees will be forward and Captain Patrick Donahue as well as Dom Delgrosso, and Joey Fasolino along with defensemen John Brennan, Matt Zhou and Matt Pepin. As with every season, there will be some new faces on the team. This includes Jon Giguere via transfer, whom is returning to play for Norton after a two year absence, as well as a new crop of freshman who will surely be in the mix to help out on a nightly basis.
New Head Coach Jay Thebado, coming over from the Foxboro High School program, will lead this experienced group of players into the realigned TVL with hopes of getting back to the state playoffs.

Norton Lancers look to build on seven win 2016-17 season

For the first two years of the Norton varsity ice hockey programs’ existence they competed as an independent member of the MIAA. After qualifying for the postseason in the 2014-15 season Norton joined the Tri Valley League (TVL) in 2015-16 and have been a member of one of the most competitive D2/D3 leagues in all of Massachusetts for the past two seasons. In the 2016-17 season the Lancers fell just a few wins short of the MIAA playoffs finishing with a 7-13 record, but are adding reinforcements via a co-op with Sharon High School to go along with the largest senior class in program history.
In 2016-17, the Lancers offense was led by senior assistant captain and team MVP Jake Palin with 23 points (9 goals, 14 assists) as well as sophomore Brendan Heayden’s 22 points (8 goals, 14 assists). Seniors Evan Czazasty, 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists) and Conor Gilbert with 5 points (1 goal and 4 assists) will be counted on for key offensive contributions as well.

Head Coach Eric Grasso will lead a strong core of upper classmen supported by a group of returning sophomores that showed tremendous effort and improvement in their first season of varsity hockey. These players, combined with other Norton incoming freshmen and those from Sharon High School as part of the newly formed co-op between the two schools, have optimism high around the program for improving on last season and making a run at both a winning record and qualification for the state tournament.

2014-15 Season: Vision Accomplished!
In just the second season of our varsity program, the team built on their inaugural season of first time achievements finishing the regular season with an 8-7-4 record and advancing to the MIAA high school tournament for the first time in program history! Rallying around their "20/20 Vision" goal of obtaining the 20 points required to qualify for the playoffs, the 2014-15 season also marked the first time Norton finished the regular season with a winning record. Both results were great achievements for our players and coaches.
